This is the classic flat cap made with Co. Donegal tweed and a snap closure on the brim. The dark mossy green wool tweed is flecked with dozens of earth-toned colors.
This is the genuine article, fully lined. Master Weaver Eddie Doherty weaves the wool on an antique loom in Ardara, a small town on the North Atlantic ocean in southwestern Co. Donegal. Eddie is also one of only two Handweavers left in Donegal.
The wool is then sewn into these high quality hats.
If you've ever seen and felt Eddie's work, you instantly recognize the quality of his weaving. It is incredibly beautiful and very soft; the closer you look, the more colors you see. You really can see and feel the difference. Rugged County Donegal is the capital of Irish tweed, and Eddie Doherty's work is legendary.

The classic Irish "flat cap" featuring County Donegal tweed, hand-loomed by Eddie Doherty, master weaver.
This cap is woven in the "salt & pepper" pattern, comprised of medium blue yarns, like your favorite pair of well-washed jeans. 100% pure new Irish wool. Rugged and soft, textured and unique, Eddie Doherty is famous for his tweed.
Snap closure on the 2" brim. Neatly finished with satin lining and interior hat band. Sewn-in label of authenticity reads, "Eddie Doherty. Handwoven Tweed. Ardara. Co. Donegal. Ireland." Although traditionally a men's cap, this style cap has been gaining popularity with women.
With over 50 years experience, Eddie Doherty is one of only a few remaining handweavers working in Donegal, the most northern county in Ireland (and the capital of Irish tweed). If you've ever seen or felt Eddie Doherty's tweeds, you instantly recognize the quality of his weaving. Working on an antique loom in the small North Atlantic village of Ardara, Eddie Doherty produces wool that is beautiful, nuanced, and complex. Eddie Doherty's work is legendary.
What's different between hand-loomed tweed vs. power-loomed tweed? "Power loomed" tweed is wool that is woven by machine and while it makes for a more "perfect" weave, it leaves out the distinctive texture and characteristics of the handweaver.
