This handwoven throw, called a 'knee throw' because of its smaller size, is made in Kilcar, County Donegal by Studio Donegal.

Approximately 60" W x 40" L, and made from 100% pure new wool from 'Donegal Yarns', a neighboring business to Studio Donegal. Each throw is handwoven on site at the studio, in the beautiful Slieve League area of southwest Donegal.

Studio Donegal creates some of the most extraordinary and beautiful wool products in Ireland. They are preserving a rich tradition while keeping their designs vibrant and contemporary.

A Brief History of Studio Donegal:

For over 100 years a hand-weaving mill has existed in the Irish village of Kilcar.  In the 1960s, the mill made the shift from hand weaving to modern machinery with the hope of becoming more competitive.  It was soon apparent, however, that something crucial had been lost.

A decade later, Studio Donegal was founded by Kevin and Wendy Donaghy with the goal of maintaining and preserving the tradition of hand-weaving in Southwest Donegal. Today, thirty years later, the Studio enjoys its second generation of family ownership.

Tristan Donaghy has put together a small team of people with great skills and experience who are dedicated to making an ongoing success of the business and keeping the crafts and skills involved alive.
