Handwoven Wool Throw - Green Stripe
Product description
Rugged and remote, County Donegal is the traditional tweed capital of Ireland.
Eddie Doherty, who lives and works in the small sea-side village of
Ardara, is a master weaver with over 50 years experience, he's also one
of last remaining commercial hand weavers still working in Ireland.
An Eddie Doherty wool throw is soft, thick, warm and wooly, and is
generously sized at over 4 feet by 6 feet with hand-twisted tassels at each end. Heirloom quality.
Eddie's throws are woven from beautiful "Donegal Yarn", the authentic tweed wool yarn manufactured in Kilcar, Donegal, Ireland. "Donegal Yarn"
is famous for interesting texture and colorful flecks woven into the
yarn in the spinning process. The first step in the weaving process
involves loading the antique loom with yarn - that takes Eddie Doherty
an entire day to set-up.
Last year, Eddie's work shop was visited by Ireland's Taoiseach (prime
minister), Brian Cowen and some of Eddie's customers include Madonna,
Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman, and Meredith Viera.
"Don't settle for cheap imitations when you can get the real thing" ~ Tessa Boase, Telegraph Weekend, Nov. 2004.
100% pure new wool.
Made in Ardara, County Donegal, Ireland.
